I am grateful for life!

cooblesprout

Today is rare disease day. I was born with spina bifida, massive omphalocele, cloacal extrophy, club feet, mild cerebral palsy, short gut syndrome and much more. I have no bladder or colon. I survived testicular cancer at age 14. I've had kidney stones as big as pool table balls. I was born inside out with all of my organs except my heart and lungs on the outside of my body. I had a tracheostomy and was on oxygen til I was 3. I had a feeding tube for 15 years and could not walk until I was nine years old and now use a wheelchair and scooter when I need it. I've nearly died many times, but am still here and fighting strong! I've had one hundred fourteen surgeries in my life at Mott Hospital where my doctors have put me back together, and at Johns Hopkins and Boston Children's! I love my hospitals and my doctors and nurses and therapists! My diseases are 1 in 600,000 live births with a 20% chance of survival. I am Larry Prout Jr. I am brave, strong, smart, courageous, grateful! LIfe is a gift and I love my life! I am Larry! #rare #raredisease #rarediseaseday #motthospital #grateful
